Inline automated operations provide the lowest piece prices because the parts do not need to be handled and the extrusion operation will deliver the parts consistently to the action operation of the tooling. However, they typically require increased up-front engineering and development expenses.
Offline systems
When using offline systems custom machinery is separated from the extrusion process. This has the lowest up-front cost option because it does not require engineering development to sync the processing to extrusion cycles. Offline operations typically have a higher piece price due to handling and movement for discrete fabrication processes.
