About Us
Founded in February 1987, Vidon Plastics began its life in a small garage with scant utilities. With limited used and refurbished extruding equipment but unlimited focus and determination, Vidon Plastics began manufacturing trim for hospital beds. Excellence in quality, delivery, and support has led to great customer satisfaction, the acquisition of additional extrusion jobs, and the strong customer base we serve today.
Vidon’s Beginnings: Embracing Rapid Growth
In the fall of 1987, Vidon Plastics was first established as an automotive supplier. With only two employees, our company had sales of $300,000 before the end of its first year.
Growth came rapidly as we embraced new market opportunities. In 1988, Vidon relocated to a local industrial incubator, the Enterprise Center of Lapeer. A year later, our company had grown to over $3,000,000 in sales and 35 employees. The small Enterprise Center of Lapeer could no longer contain the burgeoning company, so Vidon moved again into an even larger facility.
The company’s quick success earned it the 1990 Michigan Business Incubator Association’s “Annual Incubator Graduate Award.” Still growing in 1994, the new facility rapidly became inadequate. Vidon Plastics purchased a lot in the Lapeer Research and Industrial Park and constructed a 40,000-square-foot building, with a 10,000-square-foot addition in 1999.
Investing in New Manufacturing and Tooling Technologies
In March 2003, Vidon invested in a wire EDM machine, bringing all aspects of Vidon’s custom tool fabrication in-house. With these increased capabilities, we can reliably achieve reduced lead times and lower tooling costs for our customers.
The expansion of our in-house tooling capabilities was instrumental in our company exceeding $10,000,000 in sales for the first time ever. More than two decades later, Vidon has continued to enjoy success, serving a larger and more diverse customer base than ever.
